Seville is the capital of the Andalusia region in southern Spain. It stands about 75 miles from the coast in the centre of the province. If you rent a car from Seville Airport you’ll find that the city centre is a six-mile drive to the west. It’s a single-runway international airfield that stands amid flat farmland alongside the A4 motorway that heads west to Seville, south to Jerez or east to Cordoba. With a hire car you’ll be able to reach the city in a few minutes and tour the surroundings, including the island monastery of Cartuja to the west.
Seville is a large colourful city standing on the Guadalquivir River. If you hire a car at Seville Airport you’ll be able to tour the city’s attractions. The highlights include the impressive Plaza de España public square with its grand architecture and fountains. There’s an enormous gothic cathedral to explore and an ornate Moorish minaret tower alongside. The opulent Alcazar Castle and its gardens have been declared a World Heritage Site. Look out too for bars featuring flamenco music and dancing – and, of course, the renowned Seville oranges in the trees lining many of the streets.
