Ibiza is one of the Spanish Balearics standing in the Mediterranean to the east of Valencia. You’ll find Ibiza Airport near the southern tip of the island with the sea at one end of the runway. It’s a busy airport for international tourists arriving in Ibiza or the neighbouring island of Formentera. Visitors who hire a car in Ibiza will find that it’s a short drive to the capital of the island. Ibiza Town is four miles to the northeast along the island’s only major road, the E-20.
If you rent a car at Ibiza Airport you’ll find the island is around 30 miles by 12 miles – but there’s plenty to see and do, especially if you have a car. You can drive to secret beaches and explore sleepy villages a long way from the all-night clubs of Ibiza Town. Drive through unspoilt pine forests, fruit orchards and olive groves dotted with pre-historic remains and relics of the era of Arab occupation. Or head to Ibiza Town for lively shops and restaurants.
