You’ll find the city of Swansea halfway along the South Wales coastline, between the big natural harbour of Milford Haven to the west and Welsh capital Cardiff, 40 miles to the east. Swansea is the second biggest city in Wales and stands just below the M4 motorway, which leads east to Cardiff. If you follow the M4 via the Severn Bridge, across the water into England, London is a 186-mile drive east. Visitors with a hire car will find that Swansea stands next to a peninsula called The Gower, a popular scenic area with acclaimed sandy beaches; while inland are the hills and valleys of the Lliw uplands, Black Mountain and Brecon Beacons.
With Swansea car hire you’ll be able to explore the spectacular beaches and landscapes nearby, as well as the busy modern university city itself. The city doesn’t have its own beach but does have a lively marina area and commercial docks. As well as shopping and exploring, there’s a good variety of things to see and do. Swansea’s highlights range from the LC, Wales’ biggest waterpark, to Clyne Gardens, a beautiful 19th-century botanical park. Elsewhere the National Waterfront Museum aims to celebrate Welsh industrial history, while the Dylan Thomas Centre has a collection dedicated to the famed local poet.
