Luton is a very big town in central southern England, just 30 miles north of London. It stands in a ring of commuter towns a similar distance away that are rather overshadowed by the huge capital nearby. But if you hire a car in Luton you will find that there are things to see both in the city itself and nearby. For drivers the connections are good, with the M1 and A6 running north-to-south through the town. One of London’s airports stands in the southeast corner of the urban district and, of course, transport connections to the capital are excellent.
With car hire in Luton you’ll soon find there’s little in the way of quaint tradition to admire, but there’s still plenty to see and do in this busy regional commercial centre. Start in the lively city centre with the shops and cafés in The Mall Luton, then explore the diverse range of traders and restaurants in the multi-cultural Bury Park area. Other highlights include the Hat Factory arts centre, Wardown Park Museum of traditional local crafts and the Stockwood Discovery Centre, which boasts a huge collection of horse-drawn carriages. Other popular nearby family attractions include Whipsnade Zoo, Woburn Safari Park and Woodside Wildfowl Park.
