The airport is located approximately six kilometres away from centre of the city so if you opt for car hire in Geneva then you will be able to travel there quite easily. The airport actually lies on the border between Switzerland and France so it is used by both countries and it is also a major European freight hub. If you have time, it might be worth heading for nearby Meyrin, a very pleasant and typically Swiss community that also happens to be home to the world famous CERN particle physics laboratory.
A large number of worldwide organisations like the Red Cross, DuPont and even the United Nations have headquarters in Geneva which creates a very cosmopolitan and international flavour to the city. Once you’ve seen all the exclusive shops that this attracts, there’s more traditional sightseeing to enjoy at the city’s biggest and most impressive church - Cathédrale Saint-Pierre. Rent a car from Geneva and you will also be able to explore the many towns and villages around the shores of Lake Geneva.
