Eindhoven is a large city in the central part of the southern Netherlands. It stands six miles north of the border with Belgium. If you’re hiring a car from Eindhoven Airport, you’ll find yourself five miles west of the city itself. This joint civil and military airfield is surrounded by flat agricultural land. The city suburbs are fairly near to the south of the airport and the local football stadium is also close by. The airport access road leads straight to the A2 motorway, so you’ll quickly be able to drive to any part of the city or to other places in west and southern Holland.
Rent a car from Eindhoven Airport, and you’ll be able to make the short drive into the city in a few minutes. Eindhoven is the biggest city in this region of Holland and has a reputation as a modern industrial centre. But you can find plenty of things to see and do here. It’s the hometown of the Philips electrical company and you’ll find references to that all over the place. One of the highlights is the unusual 1891 Lamp Factory. You’ll see many of the more interesting buildings are floodlit at night too. The River Dommel flows through the centre. Look out for the popular Van Abbemuseum, a contemporary art gallery on the banks of the river.
